The department is responsible for teaching courses in microbiology and immunology for Ph.D. students in the Microbiology and Immunology Training Program of the Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBS), M.S. students in the Public Health Microbiology and Emerging Infectious Disease program, and first-year (immunology) and second-year (medical microbiology) medical students.
The doctoral program in Microbiology, Immunology and Tropical Medicine provides students the opportunity to pursue doctoral dissertation research in the areas of molecular virology, molecular parasitology, and/or immunology.
The Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Tropical Medicine offers a wide variety of courses satisfying departmental program requirements and interdisciplinary electives.
