Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Tropical Medicine Mentoring Program

The MITM Mentoring Program works individually with new junior faculty hires and any faculty who desire mentoring. The objectives of this program are:

  1. Support departmental junior and senior faculty with professional development and when needed, preparation for promotion and tenure.
  2. Assess faculty knowledge, skills and competencies to develop individual mentoring programs.
  3. Create mentoring groups to individually support faculty development
  4. Annually assess mentees’ development to ensure dynamic mentoring program.

The MITM Mentoring Program will determine the type and composition of mentoring to meet an individual’s present and future professional development. Based on present skills and knowledge, a mentoring group will be formed to work with the faculty mentee. Annual assessment and evaluation of mentee’s progress and the mentoring group’s effectiveness will be performed with new objectives developed for the following year. Mentoring groups will be dynamic to support the mentee’s accomplishments and future needs.
